Hey. Gonna gamble here. Can someone explain to me the pros and cons of Linux as a whole and tell me maybe -possibly- how one might go about getting something set up

Getting old is interesting. I've always been a middle ground between sports (skateboarding, surfing, jiu-jitsu) and an avid student. Over time, it's clear that you can't keep trying the same tricks, just as you can't study the same way.

Today, as I'm writing an article about event-driven architectures, I realize that final exams in college were much easier, just like it's not as easy to jump the same stairs on a skateboard as I did when I was 18. In the image, you can see my favorite note-taking app, Obsidian, and my Neovim terminal. I'm diving deep into Java, and for that, I'm taking a Spring Boot bootcamp offered by Claro through the DIO Innovation One platform.

the thing that gets me, when i look up "how to do this on linux" and the answers are like "you must code your own custom solution because it would be too complex to offer built-in to the OS", is. well gosh how do they do it for windows and mac then. how come my tablet can just work with those platforms.

like i know i'm not much of a programmer here but i have to assume if microsoft and apple devs can do something, a community dedicated to foss software is able to do something equivalent

if they think it's important.

Hey ! I'm planning on making the move to Linux (Fedora) and I'm wondering what the state of SimPE is on there? I use it almost daily for CC projects, plus the Nvidia tools as well.

Hello! I haven't been making CC in a while (shame on me), so I can't give an in depth review.

However, I did test the terrain editing in the newest version of SimPE and that works flawlessly.

I also optimized some CC that I've downloaded (such as downsizing textures or removing unnecessary mipmaps) and that also works fine.

It does throw this weird error whenever I start SimPE but it doesn't seem to have any impact? I can just click on the X like three times and then it continues to work as normal. This is a bit annoying and I'm not sure how to get rid of it, but it doesn't prevent me from using it. I have installed the dotnet40 dependency so I'm not sure what it wants me to do.

As you can see, I can open meshes and textures normally:

What threw me for a loop is this weird quirk it has on linux where you have to RIGHT click the entries to open them in plugin view. I have no idea why that is, but that's how it is.

I've had my first taste of Linux and I am BUZZING with excitement. Gonna see if I can setup a second PC or get a laptop to put it on

"He is back and he is seeking revenge!!" That’s what one of my teammates said after we wrapped up a big performance upgrade on a server that was… let’s say, not performing its best. Highs and lows, right? Complex, data-heavy, fast, reliable, and done for the best 'top dogs' in the game (me included).

And then another kind of thing... I was talking with a friend who’s been struggling to find a job in his field (he's studying management, which is a solid and common path). So, why not help a little bit? (That is what is in the image, do not call me a click baiter*)

I strongly believe that if you're struggling to get into any area, a nice way to present yourself is by having a page—it can be pure HTML/CSS or a cloned repo with some kind of "personal website template" using all the NodeJS you want.

Then, turn it into a DNS like "yourname-myprofession.com" so you can show a clean, well-designed QR Code with your avatar during interviews. It’s a cleanest way possible to present your résumé and experience. Tech skills are like magic, especially for those who haven't seen it before.
